Job Description
Job DescriptionDo you enjoy fixing things, solving problems, and making sure things run smoothly? If so, you may be a great fit for the Port Engineer role at Ingram Marine Group in our Paducah, KY location! We're looking for a technically minded individual to help maintain our vessels and keep them operating safely and efficiently. As a Port Engineer, you'll play a key role in ensuring our boats meet United States Coast Guard regulations as well as Ingram's own high standards. This role involves managing multiple projects, providing excellent customer support, solving complex engineering issues, supporting vessel crews, and working in a variety of outdoor environments. What you will be doing:
Ensuring equipment is maintained to the standards Ingram has setCoordinating vessel maintenance, repairs, and down time to engineering managersWorking with vendors to schedule and coordinate maintenance and repairs within required or requested timelineAssisting the Chief Engineer with repairs and maintenance underway and/or dock sideAttending routine staff and overhaul meetingsWorking with vendors to accomplish repairs when neededConducting annual performance evaluations with vessel engineersManaging vessel maintenance records in the vessel maintenance repair program (HELM)Assisting with communications to vessel engineers, troubleshooting problems, training of junior engineers, gathering new ideas for all job task improvementsManaging costs for all repairs and purchasing to control maintenance costCommunicate IBCO standards and policies to all vendorsCollaborating with operations when scheduling vessel maintenance and repairsSupporting department activities with regular and prompt attendancePerforming special technical assignments as directed by the Manager of EngineeringAttending three vessel visits yearly on assigned vesselsQualificationsWhat we're looking for:
Associate's degree, technical school, or diesel college education preferred2-3 years of related experienceMust have a valid driver's licenseProven leadership skillsWorking knowledge of engines, gears, generators, hydraulics, basic electricalIntermediate computer skills and experience, Microsoft Office programsMust have excellent oral and written communication skillsMust have knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipmentMust have the ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects simultaneouslyMust have creative problem-solving skillsMust have the ability to trouble shoot and resolve problems remotelyMust have the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with vessel crew, operations, safety, vendors, and USCGAdditional InformationWhat will make you successful:
Must have the physical ability to transit all work environments for vessel and facility docks (i.e. lifting, climbing, confined spaces, maneuver hazardous areas)Able to work in extreme weather conditionsWalking on uneven surfacesTraveling to other facilitiesOn-call 24 hours/day and weekend in a rotating schedule, including holidaysAll your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
