You will exercise your exceptional skills to conduct experiments, sample characterization, and develop test rigs for specific powder tests. This candidate will be a core member of the Cathode Pilot team that focuses on the synthesis and testing of cathode materials to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy. What You'll Do Spearhead metrology development related to cathode physical and electrochemical performance Design and build novel test rigs and equipment to support process development Decrease development cycle time from trial ideation through trial conclusion via efficient design of experiment (DOE) and improved metrology techniques Troubleshooting existing equipment and software General characterization of powder materials: sample preparation for microscopy, particle and powder density, particle size analysis, powder flowability, etc. Document data in the centralized database with the use of test procedures and process documents Bring new ideas to increase productivity, reduce cost, and minimize waste What You'll Bring Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Science or equivalent in experience At least 1-2 years of hands-on and analytical (university or commercial) experience in disciplines related to: materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering, analytical, mechanical engineering Competency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Experience using statistical software, such as JMP or Minitab Must be able to demonstrate meticulous organizational and data management skills Must have a strong sense of safety and be able to work independently or with others Experience with analytical techniques common to particle and powder characterization is preferred - examples: particle size analyzer, powder flowability tester, compressibility, permeability of powders, etc. Essential Physical Demands Stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in a fast-paced, noisy environment Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and work in varying temperatures and environments Comfortable with wearing a powered air-purifying respirator (PAPR) for extended periods of time Ability to climb, bend, stoop, and kneel as needed Compensation and Benefits Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program Expected Compensation $24.40 - $56.40/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
