Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design, structural integrity, and component integration for advanced aerospace systems. This role involves developing complex mechanical assemblies, performing structural analysis, selecting high-performance materials, and supporting hands-on prototyping and testing. The ideal candidate will have strong CAD modeling skills, experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and practical knowledge of mechanical design, manufacturing, and structural engineering. Key Responsibilities Design and size mechanical structures to withstand demanding operational, aerodynamic, vibration, and thermal loads. Perform structural, static, dynamic, and vibration analysis using FEA tools. Develop and manage complex 3D CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings. Design primary and secondary structures, brackets, mounting points, and mechanical interfaces. Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to optimize structural strength, weight, packaging, and thermal performance. Select appropriate materials, including high-strength alloys, advanced composites, and high-temperature materials. Coordinate with suppliers, machine shops, and manufacturing partners to ensure component quality and dimensional accuracy. Support prototype development, fabrication, testing, and design improvements. Create test fixtures and assist with hands-on machining and mechanical assembly activities. Identify structural weaknesses, resolve design challenges, and ensure mechanical components meet engineering requirements. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. Strong proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and complex assembly design. Demonstrated experience with structural analysis and Finite Element Analysis (FEA). Understanding of static, dynamic, and vibration loading conditions. Experience selecting materials for high-stress or aerospace applications. Hands-on fabrication and machining experience, including manual or CNC milling and lathe operations. Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Must meet the applicable U.S. Person or lawful permanent resident status requirement. Preferred Qualifications Experience in aerospace, aircraft structures, UAVs, rockets, or other high-speed aerospace systems. Familiarity with Outer Mold Line (OML) design and aerodynamic packaging constraints. Experience working with external vendors, suppliers, and manufacturing partners. Exposure to environmental qualification testing, including thermal, vibration, and shock testing. Experience building prototypes, structural test fixtures, or mechanical test rigs. Familiarity with CAD and FEA software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Siemens NX, Creo, ANSYS, or Abaqus.
