Job Description
Johnson Service Group is a nationwide staffing company looking for a Sr. Material Scientist(Energetic Materials)-Aerospace Manufacturing with 5 - 10 years of experience in Aerospace design and manufacturing environment or equivalent industry. This is a Direct hire job in the Oxnard, CA area for an Aircraft company.
Salary:
$178K Relocation package: For qualified candidates Key Responsibilities Develop, evaluate, and qualify energetic materials (propellants, pyrotechnics, initiators) for aerospace CAD/PAD systems. Perform material characterization (DSC, TGA, spectroscopy) and analyze aging, durability, and performance. Lead product development from concept through qualification and production release. Define material specifications and support ballistic, ignition, environmental, and qualification testing. Troubleshoot material and manufacturing issues while improving quality, performance, and manufacturability. Ensure compliance with MIL-STD, NASA, DoD, OSHA, FAA, and AS9100 standards. Conduct failure analysis (RCCA/FMEA), prepare technical reports, specifications, and customer documentation. Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers throughout the product lifecycle. Required Qualifications M.S. in Materials Science, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or related field (PhD preferred). 5-10 years in aerospace or related manufacturing. Experience leading projects from proposal through production release. Strong knowledge of product development, qualification testing, and aerospace regulations. Experience with MIL-STD-810, DO-160, RCCA, SDRLs, and customer requirements. Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, testing, and customers. Preferred Skills Knowledge of aerospace/military standards and energetic materials. Blueprint reading, GD&T, tolerance analysis. Experience with SolidWorks, PLM (Enovia, Teamcenter, Windchill), FEA, and stress analysis. Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. Comfortable working safely with hazardous and energetic materials using required PPE.
