Applicants must have an intermediate to advanced level of knowledge and experience using instrumental techniques such as XRD, XRF, FTIR, SEM, TEM, polarized light microscopy, and radiochemistry. Duties begin by learning our existing certified methods using
XRD, XRF, FTIR, ATR-FTIR & PLM
as applied to unknown identification, microplastics, respirable SiO2, particulate matter, impurities in oil & PLM asbestos and thereby demonstrating your competency and ability to lead. We hold certifications from NELAP, ELAP, ISO17025, NIOSH, OSHA, DOD, and a number of others so that expert quality analysis is our expected performance standard. After training on our LIMS software & data flow, and demonstrating expertise in our existing material science methods, your primary duties will be to lead, maintain, and expand the material science department. This includes managing workflow & staff, technical problem solving, improvement of existing processes, maintaining functionality of existing instrumentation, and helping expand our client and market base. Applicant must have the skill and drive to set up new instrumentation that is already in house such as our SEM & TEM, and to have the depth of knowledge in material science instrumentation and markets to grow the department. You will lead our lab in setting The primary attribute that we are looking for is depth of experience, which must be coupled with versatility, mechanical & instrumental aptitude, native intelligence, drive, and ability and passion to learn. Must be able to smoothly manage your department but also be able to accept direction and work as a team member. Minimum BSc required but higher degree preferred. Our MatSci department sits inside a larger lab containing 8 other departments and 150 staff focused primarily on environmental testing. We are located in Pittsburg, CA.
Salary range:
$80,000 to $100,000 / Year.
