The Lead Welding Engineer is part of the Global Materials Engineering Team and is based at our Montrose manufacturing facility, working closely with on-site manufacturing teams. Partner with the best As a Lead Welding Engineer , you will support welding engineering activities across manufacturing operations, ensuring compliance with company standards and customer requirements. You will play a key role in driving welding best practices, supporting qualification activities, and contributing to continuous improvement and innovation within welding and materials engineering. As a Lead Welding Engineer, you will be responsible for: Implementing Baker Hughes requirements and best practices for welding and NDE. Providing welding engineering support to the workshop. Qualifying and supporting new welding procedures. Sharing lessons learned and feedback with the global welding engineering team. Driving efficiency and productivity improvements within welding operations. Identifying and supporting welding-related R D programs. Reviewing and implementing special customer requirements. Participating in the global welding engineering forum. Supporting other Baker Hughes sites as required. Fuel your passion To be successful in this role, you will: Hold a Bachelor's degree in Welding, Materials, or Mechanical Engineering. Preferably possess IWE certification. Demonstrate proven experience welding duplex stainless steel and Inconel overlay/clad materials, particularly on pipe spools and pressure-retaining components. Have strong understanding of heat input control, ferrite control in duplex materials, and handling of nickel alloys. Possess strong knowledge of relevant standards such as
ASME IX, API 1104, ISO
15614, and
DNV-ST-F101.
Have in-depth understanding of NDE processes and metallurgy, including forming, forging, and heat treatment. Demonstrate good knowledge of HSE requirements and the ability to follow safety procedures. Communicate effectively and work collaboratively within a team-focused fabrication environment.
