Position Summary & Responsibilities:
Position Summary:
This Certified Weld Inspector (Engineering Technician Specialist) position can be located at one of three locations: Shawnee/Kansas City Regional Materials Office, Wichita Regional Materials Office, or the Topeka Material Research Laboratory. This position will provide critical welding inspections at fabrication plants. Sample, test, and evaluate materials that will be used in KDOT construction projects. This position will involve travel to Prestressed Beam Fabrication plants, Precast Concrete Plants, Steel Bridge Fabrication plants and KDOT construction sites.
NOTE:
The employee in this position must also maintain Certified Inspection certifications under the
KDOT CIT
Program as outlined in the Engineering Technician Progression Manual for the specific job path and any additional as outlined by the Senior Manager. Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: Fabrication inspection and/or testing of structural steel to determine the acceptability of fabricated products. Inspection, testing, and/or sampling of other project-related materials, including plain and epoxy coated reinforcing steel, concrete and corrugated metal pipe, fencing materials, cement, painted products, precast concrete products, fasteners, non-structural fabricated items, and galvanized products.
