Job Description

Reports To This position reports directly to the company dispatcher for scheduling/administration and periodically to the Solid Ground project engineer or project manager for technical oversight. Job Overview This position provides quality control (Special Inspection) services to construction projects (commercial, industrial, and infrastructure) in primarily western and central Kentucky. Success in this position is characterized by excellent communication (internally and externally), organizational skills, and flexibility to changing project conditions. This position is the foundation upon which successful projects are built on. As such, emphasis is placed on training, certification, and experience with a successful technician being self-motivated to certification advancement. With each certification, additional compensation is earned. Responsibilities and Duties Provide Quality Control sampling for soils, concrete, masonry, fireproofing, firestop, and structural steel. This task can often be physically demanding, such as carrying 60 pounds of equipment to and from testing locations on the project site. Determine compliance of construction activities with the design drawings and specifications. Communicate results and observations to contractor/owner/engineer, including anydeficiencies. Maintain daily reports and laboratory data sheets for each project/sample. Electronicreports/data sheets are completed prior to leaving the project site.
Qualifications/Certifications Required:
High school diploma or GED equivalent. Post-Secondary Education is not a requirement, but is considered a benefit. Valid Drivers License Optional Qualifications/Certifications

  • : Past construction experience is desirable American Concrete Institute
  • Concrete Field Testing Technician
  • Grade I
  • International Code Council Certifications (Reinforced Concrete, Reinforced Masonry, Soils, Spray Applied Fire-Resistant Materials, Structural Bolted Connections, Structural Welded Connections)
  • International Firestop Council
  • Special Inspector Certificate
  • Future Advancement within the Company Advancement within Solid Ground is encouraged, and the following is the typical progression for this position: Field Technician w/certifications > Senior Technician > Project Coordinator > Project Manager Our office is located at: 5027 Atwood Drive Richmond, KY 40475 While our office is located in Richmond, this role will primarily serve the western and central parts of Kentucky and Tennessee.
