This Engineering Technician operates in the District Laboratory Section, serving as lead worker and assistant to the Engineering Technician 7 in providing supervision to lower-level lab personnel. Please visit our DOTD Career Center for more information about our agency: https://dotd.la.gov/about/office-of-management-and-finance/human-resources/career-center/ Possession of a high school diploma or GED plus three years of sub-professional engineering experience; OR Six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance plus three years of sub-professional engineering experience; OR Eighteen semester hours in one of the following specialized fields: architecture, cartography, construction management, construction technology, drafting, engineering, engineering graphics, engineering technology, industrial technology, landscape architecture, math, or physics. Job Duties:
Serves as assistant to the Engineering Technician Supervisor in the supervision of the laboratory testing units. Performs special task assignments such as truck certification, PCC plant certification, annual inventory, sampling structural paint for other states, vehicle needs, and making recommendation for purchases. Trains, reviews, and approves work of lower level technicians. Examines test results and recommends acceptability of construction materials. Recommends solutions to technical problems occurring in the quality assurance program.
