Job Description

The Weld Inspector is responsible for inspecting and verifying the quality and integrity of welded components to ensure compliance with internal specifications, industry standards (e.g., AWS, ASME, MIL-STD), and customer requirements. This position plays a critical role in quality assurance, working closely with welders, engineering, and production teams to maintain high standards in a defense manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives related to welding and fabrication quality. Communicate effectively with welders and supervisors to provide feedback and improve welding outcomes. Conduct in-process and final inspections of welded assemblies and components. Conduct visual inspections Coordinate with production and engineering teams to address and resolve welding-related defects or quality concerns. Document inspection results accurately, including weld maps, NCRs (non-conformance reports), and inspection logs. Ensure that welding practices and inspection methods comply with ISO, AS9100, and ITAR standards. Help maintain welder qualification records and assist with scheduling certification renewals. Interpret and work from blueprints, weld symbols, and technical drawings. Maintain welder certifications and ensure requalification as needed. Maintain welder qualification records and support requalification efforts as required. Perform visual weld inspections and verify compliance with applicable welding codes (AWS D1.1, D1.2, MIL-STD, etc.).
