Spot Welder Job Description This role involves setting up and operating manual and semi-automatic spot-welding equipment to fuse metal components with precision and consistency. You will work with a variety of welding processes, prepare materials for welding, and apply your knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and geometry to produce high-quality parts in a modern manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Set up and operate manual and semi-automatic spot-welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as resistance, projection, and capacitor discharge (CD) welding. Prepare all material surfaces to be welded by removing loose or thick scale, slag, rust, moisture, grease, and any foreign matter to ensure proper weld quality. Determine the appropriate equipment settings and spot welding methods for each job, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques. Monitor weld quality during production and make necessary adjustments to equipment or process parameters to maintain consistent results. Work with metal fabrication and metal stamping components to ensure proper fit-up and alignment prior to welding. Operate and support robotic welding and robotic weld systems as needed, including basic setup and operation. Follow production schedules, work instructions, and safety procedures while maintaining a clean and organized work area. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and quality standards. Essential Skills Hands-on experience with spot welding in a production or fabrication environment. Ability to set up and operate manual and semi-automatic spot-welding equipment. Knowledge of resistance, projection, and CD (capacitor discharge) welding processes. Experience working with metal fabrication and metal stamping components. Ability to prepare metal surfaces for welding, including cleaning and removing contaminants such as scale, slag, rust, moisture, and grease. Understanding of basic metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques to determine proper welding methods and settings. Experience with welding and weld inspection to ensure consistent quality. Ability to follow work instructions, safety procedures, and production schedules. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in repetitive tasks. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with robotic welding systems, including operation and monitoring. Exposure to robotic programming and robotic weld setup in a manufacturing environment. Experience in fabrication or metal stamping production. Comfort working with state-of-the-art welding and fabrication equipment. Multiple shifts are available:
1st shift runs from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM (Monday through Friday); 2nd shift runs from 3:15 PM to 11:45 PM (Monday through Friday) or 3:15 PM to 1:45 AM (Monday through Thursday); 3rd shift runs from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM (Monday through Friday). The environment supports consistent production work with an emphasis on safety, quality, and comfort, with appropriate industrial attire and personal protective equipment expected for welding and fabrication activities.
Experience Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of St Paul, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45000.00 - $62000.00/yr. Harvey Vogel is place that people love to work at. They are located in a beautiful facility in Woodbury that looks more like a country club than a manufacturing facility when you pull into the parking lot. They have quarterly employee cookouts and give out cash bonuses to all employees when they hit goals. Last year, the owner gave each employee $100 cash and had a drawing to give out 3 cash bonuses of $5,000.
