Job Description
Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Metallurgical Chemist to join our innovative research and development team. This role involves conducting comprehensive metallurgical analyses, supporting product development, and ensuring adherence to industry standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in chemical and mechanical engineering principles, with experience in laboratory testing, materials characterization, and process optimization. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge projects within the metals and manufacturing sectors, fostering advancements in quality control, fabrication, and material performance. Responsibilities Perform detailed chemical and metallurgical analyses on various metal alloys and composite materials using advanced laboratory techniques. Develop and optimize processes related to metals fabrication, including plastics blow molding and injection molding. Utilize CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and other CAD tools to design experimental setups and interpret engineering drawings. Conduct research and development activities aimed at improving material properties, manufacturing efficiency, and product quality. Collect, analyze, and document data accurately to support project objectives and ensure compliance with industry standards such as ASME codes & standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams on product development initiatives, including mechanical design integration and quality control measures. Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles to ensure precision in manufacturing processes. Support laboratory testing related to plastics injection molding and blow molding processes for quality assurance. Maintain thorough records of experiments, test results, and process modifications for continuous improvement. Ensure adherence to safety protocols within laboratory environments while fostering a culture of innovation. Skills Proven experience with project scheduling to coordinate multiple research initiatives efficiently. Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and other CAD software for design and analysis purposes. Strong background in manufacturing processes including plastics blow molding, injection molding, and fabrication techniques. Laboratory experience with materials testing, chemical analysis, and data collection methodologies. Mechanical knowledge relevant to material behavior, mechanical engineering principles, and fabrication techniques. Familiarity with GD&T standards for precise engineering documentation. Knowledge of ASME codes & standards applicable to pressure vessels, piping systems, or related components. Experience in research & development environments focused on product innovation. Understanding of plastics processing technologies combined with chemical engineering expertise. Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong communication skills for collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
