Our Welding Engineers support our Welding and Manufacturing team so that the pumps and equipment we produce can survive the harshest environments on earth without compromising their quality or having an early end of life failure! To this we need an engineer experienced with the various welding codes like ASME Section
III, ASME
Section IX, or
NAVSEA 250-1500.
Our team of Weld Engineers ensure our work is continually meeting and exceeding our customers standards.
Your Challenge:
In this role you will determine appropriate required welding techniques and procedures for welding applications and qualifications that support the products at EMD. Generate weld procedure and welder qualification records. Must be comfortable working effectively in a manufacturing environment where arc welding like
GTAW, GMAW, SMAW, SAW, FCAW, PTAW
processes which are used to produce x-ray quality structural and seal welds. Candidates need a working knowledge of welding metallurgy to resolve complex welding issues as well as interpret material specifications. Identify, evaluate, and resolve non-routine welding engineering problems as they relate to nontraditional manufacturing and repair work. The ideal candidate needs a growth mindset that proactively seeks out to solve new and difficult welding engineering challenges. Effective communication skills are critical in this role as you will interface across all levels of EMD and customer organizations, both verbally and in written correspondence. Additionally, you will provide technical support and directions to a skilled labor force and Weld Development Lab Technicians. Due to the nature of the work done at EMD and the ever-evolving materials available in this position, candidate will be involved with identifying new and improving welding processes and techniques. This involves developing and managing material joining work plans, detailing schedules, and resource requirements to meet goals and deadlines. Role requires collaborating with design and manufacturing engineering counterparts to resolve joining issues while providing technical support to all involved parties. Actively interact and participate in meetings to support engineering, manufacturing and program management. To assist in the review of supplier qualifications and procedures or provide support for audits. Prior experience leading and mentoring other engineers in areas of expertise to facilitate growth and continual improvement is preferred.
What you bring:
A minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Welding Engineering, or Welding Engineering Technology. Degrees in Metallurgy, or Materials Science with Welding Engineering experience will also be considered. Advanced degrees in these disciplines are desired. 6+ years of related experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred. Knowledge of arc welding processes. Experience with
GTAW, FCAW, SAW
is preferred, but will also consider candidates with knowledge of GMAW, SMAW or PTAW techniques. Candidates need experience with either ASME Section
III, ASME
Section IX, NAVSEA, or Tech Pub welding codes. Candidates should have experience working with various carbon, alloy and stainless steels, along with nickel, and copper-based alloys, in addition to dissimilar metal welding. Must have prior experience as a Welding Engineer, Materials Engineer, or Manufacturing Engineer. Effective communication and organizational skills are essential for working with engineering and operations, and the composition and documentation of processes and procedures. Due to DoD requirements, candidates must be US citizens Must be able to obtain and maintain DoD Security clearances and approval
