Job Description
This full-time summer internship includes a minimum 10-week assignment and offers a competitive monthly salary. Interns may also be eligible for company-provided housing or a housing stipend based on individual needs. Each intern is paired with both a manager and mentor to support their professional growth throughout the program. The Corrosion Scientist/Engineer Intern will support corrosion research and testing, benchmarking, data organization, and research initiatives that advance Arconic's materials and manufacturing capabilities. You will development technology initiatives within our R D organization by developing, validating, and applying corrosion test methods that advance alloy development, improve plant operations, and deliver meaningful business impact.

Currently pursuing a degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related discipline. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Expected graduation between August 2027 and May 2028. Understanding of experimental design principles in corrosion science and engineering. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills. Demonstrated ability and desire to learn in a research-focused environment. Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. §730, et seq.) and/or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Authorizations from the relevant government agency may be required to meet export control compliance requirements.Preferred Qualifications:
Enrolled in a Ph.D. program. Experience working in a laboratory environment with corrosion testing equipment. Experience analyzing and interpreting metallographic data and test results. Interest in corrosion science, materials development, and manufacturing applications. In this role, you will: Conduct corrosion testing and benchmarking of aluminum alloys and surface treatments. Review and summarize technical literature related to 7xxx alloy EAC/SCC performance and identify opportunities for future research. Build and expand internal knowledge resources on corrosion mechanisms and failure analysis. Support corrosion assessments for alloy development and operational needs. Investigate the effects of aging and heat treatment on 6xxx alloy filiform corrosion performance. Organize and digitize corrosion testing records and historical data. Support development of a centralized, searchable corrosion database. Analyze test results and provide technical recommendations. Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and technical teams on research and operational projects.
