Come join our journey, and experience what it means to be Done Right with Rhoads . We are looking for a Weld Engineer to join our dynamic, fast-paced team. The Weld Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and improving welding processes and standards across our manufacturing or fabrication operations. The Weld Engineer will have a strong background in welding metallurgy, procedures, and quality control to ensure structural integrity and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Review drawings and work scope and develop welding processes for manufacturing and construction projects. Specify welding techniques, equipment, and materials to ensure quality, compliance and efficiency. Develop Welding Procedure Records (WPQRs) , Create Welding Procedure Specifications (WPSs), and maintain Welder Qualification Records (WQRs). Evaluate and resolve welding-related production issues to improve efficiency and reduce defects. Interact and support welders on the floor Support Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) processes. Ensure compliance with industry codes and standards such as
AWS, ASME, MIL, NASEA
Technical Publications, ISO and our quality program. Collaborate with customers, engineers, manufacturing, quality, and maintenance teams. Train and qualify welders and welding operators as needed. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to welding and fabrication. Document processes and maintain accurate records for audits and certifications.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
Preferred:
Certified Welding Engineer (PE) or Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
QUALIFICATIONS
2-5 years of experience in welding engineering or a related manufacturing role. Strong knowledge of welding processes such as MIG, TIG, Stick, and Submerged Arc Welding (SAW). Familiarity with industry codes and standards (e.g., AWS, ASME , MIL, and NASEA Technical Publications). Proficiency in interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols. Experience with metallurgical analysis and failure investigation techniques. Working knowledge of quality systems and documentation requirements. Experience with automated or robotic welding systems. Familiarity with Alto CAD. Proficient in Excel, Word, and Office
