As a Facade Intern, you will work with some of the brightest minds in the industry, contributing to unique and innovative projects that inspire awe, transform communities and help to combat climate change. Your key duties Utilize advanced analysis programs and techniques to understand building enclosure physics and façade design Undertake engineering calculations with various materials, including structural glass, aluminum, stainless steel, wood, stone, and precast concrete Produce details and drawings using multiple 2D and 3D CAD and graphics software packages Engage in a cross-disciplinary project focusing on the intersection of façade design and sustainabilityPerform technical reviews of shop drawings and construction administration submittals to ensure air, water, thermal, seismic, acoustic, and structural performance Participate in site visits to projects and prepare site observation reports. Your skills and experience Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related science discipline Coursework in façade materials and assemblies, façade engineering, building envelope physics, and/or thermal modeling skills beneficial 3D modeling skills (Rhino, Revit, Grasshopper, SketchUp, AutoCAD, etc) preferred Interest in the façade industry with emphasis on detailing and engineering Good sketching skills Internship experience in façade or engineering beneficial Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible manner Eagerness to learn and work as part of a multidisciplinary team Candidates are encouraged to apply even if they don't meet all requirements What we offerHourly rate of $24 to $34 per hour depending on level of education and geographic locationHybrid working & summer hoursConnection to global network of experts on the forefront of industry initiativesAccess to wide ranging learning and development opportunitiesConnect with colleagues and build your network through our Employee Resource Groups, including the Young Employees Forum, Diversity & Inclusion Forum, Women's Network, Wellness Committee, and Black at Buro HappoldWe'd love to see examples of your work.
