Sub Arc SAW Welder

FlexTrades is hiring Sub Arc SAW Welders for nationwide project-based assignments supporting heavy industrial fabrication and large structural steel manufacturing. This role is designed for welders who understand automated welding processes, can maintain consistent weld quality on thick materials, and are comfortable working with large steel components in production environments. If you have experience operating submerged arc welding equipment and can manage weld parameters while monitoring seam quality during long weld cycles, this opportunity aligns with your skill set. Responsibilities Operate automated submerged arc welding equipment and manage weld parameters through a control interface Weld circular and longitudinal seams on large steel tower sections while monitoring flux flow and weld quality Work from a seated operator station positioned 12 to 20 feet above the ground for extended periods depending on weld type Follow detailed work instructions including weld parameters, sequence steps, and safety procedures Move between seated and standing positions to inspect weld seams and confirm proper machine operation during each pass Use remote-operated overhead cranes to position and transfer large steel sections during setup Monitor weld passes and maintain consistent quality across repetitive welding cycles Qualifications Experience performing submerged arc welding on heavy steel materials Ability to read and follow detailed work instructions written in metric measurements Comfortable working at heights ranging from 12 to 20 feet for extended periods Ability to complete a hands-on weld test using provided equipment and instructions Experience managing multiple weld passes on thick steel sections with repetitive weld cycles Ability to use production tracking systems to log job start and stop times and record part information About FlexTrades FlexTrades is a manufacturing workforce solutions company that deploys skilled tradespeople and technical specialists to worksites across the United States.
