We are looking for a Welding Inspector. This position will report into our Wendell, NC headquarters. Relocation assistance is available. This could be a fully remote position. Overview You will ensure stable, compliant, and cost‑efficient welding processes, guarantee quality, safety, and regulatory compliance, and a ct as the technical authority for internal and external welding scope (including suppliers).
Responsibilities:
Reviewing designs, drawings, and product concepts to ensure weldability and compliance with applicable standards Defining and managing welding specifications, including WPS, PQR, consumables, and weld definitions Monitoring and controlling welding processes across production and assembly (internal and supplier operations) Leading welding-related audits, technical assessments, and supplier evaluations Qualifying and approving welding suppliers while driving supplier development and performance improvements Ensuring alignment between welder qualifications and assigned welding applications You'll win us over by having the following qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
Certification aligned with
ISO 14731, AWS B5.16
(Welding Engineer / Technologist / Specialist), or equivalent ASME qualification 8+ years of experience in welding technology, manufacturing, and welding coordination Ability to travel nationally, extensively - up to 75% Strong knowledge of WPS, PQR, welder qualifications, and welding quality systems Experience with supplier qualification, audits, and welding process oversight Familiarity with NDT methods, materials, and joining technologies Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced experience in welding compliance within regulated or project-based environments Experience leading supplier improvement initiatives and audit programs Strong understanding of ISO, AWS, and project-specific welding codes and standards Experience integrating welding requirements into supplier quality and procurement workflows
