Back Sr. Weld Engineer Engineering Richmond , Virginia Contract to Permanent Sep 4, 2026 Job Summary A global engineering and design organization is hiring an experienced Welding Engineer - Senior Associate or Project Associate. This role provides welding and materials-related technical project support for internal and external clients in a professional services environment. The Welding Engineer will lead, review, and perform welding-related project activities while supporting failure evaluations, material evaluations, welding design evaluations, and the development and execution of welding designs and procedures for power and related industries. Responsibilities Lead, review, and perform welding-related technical project activities. Provide welding and materials-related technical support to internal and external clients. Support project teams with failure evaluations, material evaluations, and welding design evaluations. Assist with the development and execution of welding designs and welding procedures. Manage welding and materials personnel as needed. Train employees on welding and materials-related topics. Review and develop welding programs. Support material selection and coating evaluation and review activities. Perform metallurgical and heat treatment analyses. Conduct data analysis and trending. Review and evaluate test data and develop recommendations. Perform failure and root cause analyses. Support engineering, design, and consulting activities. Qualifications Must be a U.S. citizen; dual citizenship with a country other than the U.S. does not qualify. BS or MS from an ABET-accredited engineering program or related academic experience. 5 or more years of experience in welding, welding design, and materials/metallurgy within the power or related industries. American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI). Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong analytical reasoning.
