Direct Hire | Salary, Non-Exempt Job Summary We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of innovative transport systems and mechanical components from concept through production support. This role is responsible for ensuring designs meet performance, cost, quality, manufacturability, and regulatory requirements while supporting new product development and existing product enhancements. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated engineering professional with strong mechanical design expertise, APQP experience, and proficiency with CAD and PLM systems. This individual will collaborate with cross-functional teams, support prototype development and validation, provide technical leadership throughout the product lifecycle, and drive continuous improvement initiatives within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Required Skills & Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required Must be legally authorized to work in the United States Must be at least 18 years of age 5-10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, product development, or manufacturing engineering Strong mechanical engineering knowledge Experience with APQP methodologies including DFMEA, MSA, Control Plans, and feasibility studies Proficiency with CAD, PLM, and other engineering design software Ability to create, interpret, and revise engineering drawings and technical documentation Strong understanding of applicable engineering standards and regulatory requirements Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and project management skills Customer-focused mindset with strong collaboration skills Adaptable, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple priorities Professional technical English communication skills Preferred Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology Experience supporting product development within a manufacturing environment Familiarity with ERP and PLM systems Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, and industrial production Experience supporting supplier development and supplier technical reviews Understanding of cost reduction initiatives and value engineering Experience supporting

Quality Management Systems Continuous improvement mindset with experience implementing design improvements Day-to-Day Responsibilities Lead mechanical engineering activities for new product development and continuous improvement projects Design mechanical systems and components using 3D CAD modeling, simulation, and engineering analysis tools Apply APQP methodology throughout product development to ensure customer requirements and quality standards are achieved Develop mechanical assemblies and select appropriate engineering solutions based on technical requirements Perform feasibility studies, risk assessments, DFMEA activities, and control plan development Create and maintain engineering drawings, Bills of Material (BOMs), specifications, and technical documentation Maintain Design Definition Files and engineering documentation within PLM systems Participate in prototype development, testing, validation, and product launch activities Support supplier selection in collaboration with Purchasing, Quality, and Manufacturing teams Lead or participate in technical meetings with internal teams, suppliers, and customers Support modifications and continuous improvement of existing products and mechanical systems Resolve product issues, non-conformances, failures, and technical challenges during production Support cost reduction initiatives and product standardization efforts Assist After-Sales Service by providing engineering support and technical expertise Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend product and process improvements Provide regular project status updates to Project Managers and Engineering Leadership Physical and Environmental Requirements This position is primarily performed in an office and engineering environment with occasional visits to manufacturing areas. Most work is completed while seated with frequent opportunities to move throughout the facility. Occasional lifting of light materials and travel to manufacturing or customer locations may be required. Travel is expected to be less than 5%.
