As a member of our Instrument Development group, you will join a high-impact team dedicated to supporting on-market instruments which are currently being used by our customers. We thrive on intensive collaboration, bridging the gap between blue-sky concepts and robust, manufacturable solutions. The Opportunity As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will serve as a technical linchpin, applying expert-level design principles to support complex systems and drive innovative solutions from concept to execution. You will be responsible for defining the technical solutions to real world problems while mentoring junior staff and ensuring the highest standards of engineering excellence across the organization. Lead the on-market support for sophisticated mechanical systems, ensuring all hardware meets rigorous performance and reliability specifications. Execute complex experimental designs (DOE) and hypothesis testing to validate system interactions and resolve critical technical challenges. Drive root cause analysis and troubleshooting efforts for manufacturing processes, delivering sustainable engineering solutions to maintain operational flow. Champion intellectual property generation by identifying and developing potentially patentable components, systems, and innovative processes. Spearhead cross-functional technical teams, facilitating the integration of mechanical designs with broader project goals and organizational interfaces. Deliver high-level technical presentations to diverse internal and external stakeholders, translating complex data into actionable project insights. Promote a "Quality First Time" culture by monitoring workflows, mentoring peers in standard practices, and continuously optimizing engineering processes. Who You Are We are seeking a seasoned expert who thrives in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment and possesses the following qualifications:
Educational Foundation:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline with 8+ years of experience; alternatively, a Master's degree with 4+ years or a PhD with 2+ years of relevant experience.Technical Mastery:
Demonstrated expert knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, including success in technical proficiency, creativity, and independent problem-solving.Matrix Environment Excellence:
Proven ability to lead and influence without direct authority, establishing effective interfaces across multiple organizational groups and departments.Stakeholder Management:
Exceptional communication skills with a track record of collaborating with diverse stakeholders to define project goals and deliver results on time.Strategic Leadership:
Experience providing technical direction and feedback to others, with a focus on teaching, mentoring, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.Preferred Qualification:
Experienced working with developing, updating and analyzing complex systems (ie; electro-mechanical) within a fast paced environment. Relocation benefits are not being offered for this position The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Tucson, AZ is $96,200 - $178,600 USD Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
