For Immediate Consideration, please send your resume to savdavis @ actalentservices.com Mechanical Design Engineer - URGENT HIRE The Mechanical Design Engineer will play a key role in designing precision sheet metal products using SolidWorks and AutoCAD , producing detailed shop drawings and bills of material for in‑house machining and fabrication. This role transforms architectural and technical drawings into accurate, manufacturable designs that support major building and infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities Design sheet metal products using SolidWorks and AutoCAD within a fabrication/manufacturing environment Read, interpret, and analyze blueprints , architectural drawings, and technical specifications Create and modify shop drawings for CNC‑machined and fabricated components Build and maintain accurate bills of material (BOMs) for assemblies and parts Apply GD&T to ensure dimensional accuracy, fit, form, and function Incorporate fabrication requirements such as bend deductions and sheet‑metal forming principles Collaborate closely with fabrication and machine shop teams to ensure manufacturability and quality Support large‑scale infrastructure and commercial building projects (airports, convention centers, etc.) Review and improve existing drawings to support ongoing production needs Contribute to a positive, collaborative engineering culture within a multi‑engineer design team Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Engineering 2-3+ years of experience in sheet metal manufacturing or fabrication Hands‑on sheet‑metal design experience in SolidWorks Hands‑on 2D sheet‑metal design experience in AutoCAD Strong blueprint and technical drawing interpretation skills Experience creating and modifying shop drawings for machined/fabricated products Working knowledge of GD&T Ability to develop and manage BOMs Understanding of fabrication concepts such as bend deductions and sheet‑metal forming Strong mechanical design skills in a production‑oriented environment Preferred Qualifications Experience in building materials , architectural environments, or construction‑related design Experience in a machine shop or job shop setting Familiarity with ceiling/wall systems or other building materials Interest in pursuing PE or EIT (tuition reimbursement available) Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, manufacturable designs Effective communication and collaboration skills within a multi‑engineer team Work Environment This role is 100% onsite , Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Business‑casual environment (polos, slacks). Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Commerce, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $41.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
