Are you a creative and detail-oriented engineer who enjoys turning ideas into real, manufacturable products? B-K Lighting is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the design and development of innovative lighting solutions across our B-K Lighting and TEKA product lines. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role is responsible for creating mechanical designs for new, custom, and existing products while applying sound engineering principles. You'll play a key role in prototyping, testing, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure designs are functional, manufacturable, and aligned with quality and safety standards. Product Design & Engineering Create mechanical designs for new, custom, and existing B-K Lighting and TEKA products with consideration for cost, performance, and safety Support product improvement initiatives by refining and enhancing existing designs Provide mechanical design support to the Lighting department, new product team, and custom projects Collaborate with New Product Design Engineers, Product Designers, Electrical Engineers, and Custom Designers on product development Testing, Prototyping & Validation Conduct product testing, prototyping, and pilot runs to validate designs Perform preliminary UL safety and photometry testing to ensure products meet specifications and compliance requirements Inspect prototype, proof-of-concept (POC), and first article parts for accuracy and quality Participate in pilot runs with Manufacturing to validate production readiness Manufacturing & Cross-Functional Support Collaborate with Manufacturing to ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability Provide fixture design support to improve production processes Work with Purchasing, tooling vendors, and other external partners as needed Support product listings and compliance requirements related to mechanical design Systems, Tools & Process Improvement Create new product part numbers in ERP and FileMaker systems Provide administrative support for the DDM file storage system within the Lighting department Support and provide backup for 3D printing services Collaborate with the Lighting team to improve product development workflows, file review processes, and DDM management Team & Culture Communicate clearly and proactively with cross-functional teams Contribute beyond defined responsibilities to support business needs Model B-K Lighting's core values: Do What's Right, Always- Relentlessly Pursue Mastery

What We're Looking For:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical or related field preferred) 2+ years of LED lighting industry experience Proficiency with: SOLIDWORKS, CAD, and DDM systems, Microsoft Office Suite, Trello, FileMaker, and ERP systems Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and construction methods Experience designing systems that incorporate electronic components Ability to communicate in a clear, professional, and proactive manner Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative, and multicultural environment Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think creatively and "outside the box" Self-motivated and able to work independently with general supervision Team-oriented mindset with willingness to contribute beyond core responsibilitiesSimilar remote jobs
