protocols Full Job Description What to Expect Battery Cells are the common denominator for every Tesla product. Our product requirements necessitate ground-up cell architectures with state-of-the-art performance, manufactured at volumes that are orders of magnitude higher than the products they power. We are looking for passionate and self-motivated candidates to join us in our fast-paced and exciting mission. Our team works with engineering groups across various disciplines, requiring strong communication skills and a team-first mentality. You will work alongside seasoned industry experts, high aptitude recent graduates, and people from every stage in between. We are looking for anyone with an exceptional ability to solve problems in both individual and team settings. This is an opportunity to work in the Cell Qualification Test Equipment Design and R D group, which is responsible for designing, building, deploying, and supporting test equipment for Tesla's next-generation Li-ion battery cells, and the development of new cell test methods. This candidate's primary role will be to design cell test equipment for domestic and international Tesla labs. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of success in designing and commissioning fixtures, equipment and automated test systems, with aptitude for electrical and mechanical equipment to be able to identify subtle issues that could impact safety, accuracy, uptime, and efficiency. Our environment is fast-paced and incredibly exciting, so being passionate, detail-oriented and self-motivated is critical. The successful candidate for this position takes pride in their organizational skills. What You'll Do Design test equipment, lead and participate in equipment design projects Interact with Cell Engineering teams to prioritize and execute work requests Create equipment build documentation, train lab staff on operation and maintenance Work with supply chain co-workers, as well as 3rd party vendors and suppliers to secure components, parts or complete equipment systems Hands-on assembly of components and equipment systems as needed Work with lab and facility managers at domestic and international sites to ensure utilities and infrastructure will accommodate new equipment Travel to domestic and international Tesla laboratories and factories as needed to install, commission and support equipment Monitor equipment and order spare parts Organize and maintain a world class lab environment Perform all assignments in collaboration and accordance with EHS, security, and business practice requirements and policies What You'll Bring Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience Experience working hands-on in an engineering prototype environment with demonstrated mechanical and electrical skills and compliance with safety protocols for lithium-ion batteries, high voltage, HAZMAT, HVAC, LOTO Experience with standard electronics tools including DC meters, power supplies, oscilloscopes Familiar with data acquisition systems and measurement tools is a plus Able to own assignments, work efficiently and take full accountability for their success Communicate clearly using excellent written and verbal skills with attention to detail Experience with common MS office programs (MS Project, Outlook, Word, Excel) Ability to lift 50 lbs.
