Mechanical Project Engineer RimePro Inc Sacramento, CA Job Details Full-time $85,000 - $110,000 a year 15 hours ago Qualifications Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering Full Job Description Position Overview The Project Engineer supports the successful execution of commercial mechanical construction projects, with a focus on HVAC and plumbing systems. This role works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and field teams to coordinate project documentation, procurement, scheduling, and technical support throughout all phases of construction. The ideal candidate holds a Mechanical Engineering degree and has experience supporting commercial HVAC and/or plumbing construction projects in fast-paced environments. Projects may include commercial office buildings, healthcare facilities, industrial plants, educational campuses, and government facilities. Key Responsibilities Assist Project Managers with the coordination and execution of HVAC and plumbing construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. Manage project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, and project logs. Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, fabrication teams, and field personnel to support project schedules and deliverables. Review mechanical drawings, specifications, and engineering documents to support project execution. Track procurement and delivery of mechanical equipment, piping, plumbing systems, ductwork, and long-lead materials. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, job costing, and project reporting. Support field teams by helping resolve technical and coordination issues during construction. Participate in project meetings with owners, engineers, architects, and contractors. Coordinate with estimating and engineering teams during preconstruction and project turnover. Support project closeout activities including punch lists, commissioning coordination, and final documentation. Maintain compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required. 2-5+ years of experience in mechanical construction, HVAC/plumbing project engineering, or related field preferred. Strong understanding of HVAC systems, plumbing systems, piping, ductwork, and mechanical equipment. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and construction documents. Familiarity with construction processes including scheduling, procurement, and subcontractor coordination. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced project environments. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction software such as Bluebeam, Procore, AutoCAD, or similar platforms. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting projects in commercial, healthcare, industrial, education, or government sectors. Familiarity with design-build mechanical projects and prefabrication workflows. Exposure to BIM/VDC coordination and clash detection processes. EIT certification or progress toward PE licensure preferred.
