Senior Mechanical Project Engineer - Power Generation Dallas, TX | Project site involvement during execution Verto People is recruiting a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer to join an energy infrastructure developer, providing owner-side engineering oversight for new gas-fired generation projects. You'll help shape projects before equipment is purchased, guide engineering through construction, and stay involved through commissioning and operation. Working directly with OEMs, engineering consultants and EPC contractors, you'll ensure technical decisions deliver reliable plants that are practical to operate and maintain. This opportunity suits an experienced power generation engineer who wants greater influence over equipment selection, project delivery and long-term asset performance. The role Lead mechanical engineering reviews for gas turbines, auxiliary equipment and balance-of-plant systems. Define equipment requirements, review designs and resolve scope gaps between suppliers and contractors. Evaluate technology options, plant performance and opportunities to improve efficiency and operating costs. Prepare technical procurement packages, assess bids and support equipment and EPC contract negotiations. Review P&IDs, equipment specifications, heat balances and plant layouts. Support emissions control selection, air permitting and engineering risk reviews. Oversee technical delivery through fabrication, installation, commissioning and acceptance testing. Resolve equipment and contractor issues, supporting operating assets with troubleshooting, upgrades and reliability improvements. Your background A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. At least 10 years of relevant gas turbine power project experience within an EPC, OEM, developer or owner/operator. Strong knowledge of simple-cycle generation, turbine auxiliaries and mechanical plant integration. Demonstrated involvement in air permitting, emissions compliance and environmental control systems. Confidence challenging technical proposals and managing interfaces between equipment suppliers and project teams. Commercial awareness, including equipment guarantees, changes, warranties and lifecycle costs. Owner-side experience, a PE license, and practical commissioning or performance testing experience would be particularly valuable. Knowledge of combined-cycle systems and emerging lower-emission technologies would also be useful. The position supports multiple projects, with the potential to become dedicated to a project site during delivery.
