Overview:
As a Facilities Process Chemical/Mechanical Engineer in Santa Clara, CA, you will support research, development, testing, and manufacturing projects in complex, fast-paced industrial facilities. You'll work closely with client stakeholders, equipment owners, manufacturers, and multidisciplinary design teams to develop requirements and construction documents for manufacturing tool installations, tenant improvements, and facility infrastructure upgrades. Responsibilities include the design and layout of wet and dry piping systems, HVAC, exhaust, fire suppression, equipment layouts, and process chemical and gas systems. You'll perform engineering calculations, size and select equipment and components, develop specifications, and evaluate modifications to existing facility systems required to support new tool installations. You'll also develop utility requirement documents and installation design packages for next-generation and prototype equipment, while providing construction-phase support including RFIs, submittal reviews, and field coordination with clients and contractors.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering from ABET Accredited University Three (3) years of practical application of mechanical facilities engineering, including HVAC, hydronics, process piping, exhaust, plumbing, and related mechanical facilities systems Engineer in Training (EIT) actively pursuing Professional Engineer (PE)
License Preferred Qualifications:
Two (2) years of experience working with complex semiconductor manufacturing tools either their manufacture, installation, or use in cleanrooms Proficient working knowledge of AutoCAD and Navisworks software Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Forward-thinking, eager to learn best practices and contribute with innovative ideas Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and driven to broaden knowledge base Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-discipline design teams Passion for buildings and construction One (1) year field experience in an industrial facility

Location:
This is an on-site position requiring work to be performed on the client site in Santa Clara, CA. Candidate must be willing to commute to the site Monday-Friday during normal business hours - nominally 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with some flexibility based on ability of site to support and employee preference. Relocation assistance may be provided for qualified candidate.
Physical Requirements:
Position requires field visits and walks at an active client site in various stages of construction. Applicant must be able to walk long distances, sit and stand for extended periods, bend, stoop, twist, crawl, climb ladders, work on catwalks, work in small spaces, lift and carry up to 25lbs.
