Mechanical Design Engineer Mechanical Design Engineer Position Overview We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to create, develop and optimize mechanical systems and components from concept through production. The successful candidate will use SolidWorks, AutoCAD and 3D modeling tools to produce detailed designs, engineering drawings and prototypes that meet performance, manufacturability and cost objectives. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, purchasing, testing and program management to ensure designs are robust, validated and ready for production. We work on projects directly within the entertainment industry, for large concerts and film/TV live productions. We support some of the top artists in the world and national sports leagues across the nation! Key Responsibilities Create and develop 3D models and detailed engineering drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD to support product development from concept to production. Translate product requirements into manufacturable designs, applying principles of tolerance analysis, DFA/DFM and cost-effective material selection. Perform design iterations based on engineering analysis, testing results and stakeholder feedback to improve performance, reliability and manufacturability. Support prototype fabrication and testing activities; troubleshoot issues during build and validation phases and implement corrective design changes. Collaborate with manufacturing, sourcing and quality teams to define tooling, assembly processes and supplier requirements. Document design intent, bills of materials (BOM), assembly instructions and revision histories in PLM/PDM systems. Conduct design reviews and provide technical input on risk assessments such as DFMEA. Provide design support for sheet metal, injection molded parts, machined components and assemblies as required. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred. Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design or product development. Proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD and 3D modeling with a strong portfolio of completed designs. Solid understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T and tolerance analysis. Experience with DFM, DFA and BOM management practices. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and ability to balance technical and commercial considerations. Effective verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-have:
experience with 2D drafting, 3D CAD, CATIA, Siemens NX, Autodesk Inventor, PTC Creo (Pro/ENGINEER).
Nice-to-have:
FEA/analysis experience using ANSYS, ABAQUS, SolidWorks Simulation, stress/thermal analysis and CFD.
Nice-to-have:
expertise in mechanism design, kinematics, tolerance stack-up, DFMEA and materials science including composites.
Nice-to-have:
familiarity with tooling design, sheet metal, injection molding, machining/CNC, CAM, additive manufacturing/3D printing and rapid prototyping.
Nice-to-have:
experience with PLM/PDM systems (Teamcenter, Windchill), and testing & validation workflows.
