Piper Companies is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join an innovative, cutting edge AI hardware startup company onsite Monday - Friday located near San Jose, CA to lead the mechanical architecture and chassis design of high‑performance, rack‑mounted computing systems. Responsibilities for the
Senior Mechanical Engineer:
Lead the end‑to‑end mechanical design of system chassis and enclosures for high‑performance computing hardware Design and deliver sheet‑metal chassis, frames, and enclosures that ship to production and operate in data center environments Collaborate cross‑functionally with electrical, thermal, and manufacturing teams to bring complex hardware systems to life Own designs from concept through prototype, manufacturing, and shipment, with real product impact Qualifications for the
Senior Mechanical Engineer:
10-15+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer focused on systems, chassis, or enclosure design Strong hands‑on experience with sheet‑metal chassis design for rack‑mounted systems, servers, or networking hardware Deep understanding of mechanical architecture, PCB mounting, tolerances, and manufacturable assemblies Experience with rack standards (19‑inch racks) and familiarity with OCP and modern data center hardware standards Knowledge of EMI/EMC considerations, especially for high‑frequency or networking systems Proven ability to drive DFM and DFA and work directly with manufacturers and vendors Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field required Compensation/Benefits for the
Senior Mechanical Engineer:
Salary range: $210,000 - $260,000 base salary (depending on experience)
