Your Impact We are looking for a Sustaining Mechanical Engineer Intern who will contribute to the success of the Engineering Team, applying their knowledge in Mechanical Engineering to support the achievement of team and company goals and deliver innovative, reliable solutions. In this role, the successful candidate will collaborate effectively with colleagues and cross-functional teams, demonstrate strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, and maintain a commitment to professional excellence, quality and continuous improvement. The Role As a Sustaining Mechanical Engineer Intern, you will collaborate on highly technical products with a team of dedicated engineers and scientists from various disciplines. Under the guidance of your manager and assigned mentor, you will support a key sustaining effort by building, testing, and validating a thermal model of an existing gas particle counter. Job Responsibilities Supporting research, new product development, and sustaining engineering activities Designing mechanical, opto-mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies with support from your functional manager and assigned mentor Execution of test plans, prepare and present detailed test reports Continuously evaluate processes for improvements in efficiency, quality, and safety This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Responsibilities may evolve over time, and other related duties may be assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the company Required Qualifications Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Physics as a third- or fourth-year student, or enrolled in a graduate program Coursework in fluid dynamics, thermal analysis, physics and machine design Strong analytical skills Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD required Self-directed and able to collaborate as part of a cross-functional team Excellent technical problem-solving skills Strong oral and written communication skills Ability to follow detailed direction Must be at least 18 years of age Authorized to work in the United States Work Environment & Physical Requirements This is a 40-hour per week, full-time, on-site position for the summer of 2026 (3 months) This role primarily operates in an office/lab/manufacturing environment. Must be able to sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods of time Occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs. may be required Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this role
Compensation & Benefits Salary:
