Job Description
Position Overview:
The Project Engineer will manage and coordinate engineering and technical projects, ensuring they are completed on time within scope and within budget. This individual will be involved in planning, execution, and monitoring, requiring strong technical expertise and project management skills. Develops, designs, and substantiates packages for FAA-PMA applications.Reverse engineers and troubleshoots electrical or mechanical aircraft components.
Uses automatic and manual measuring techniques to record dimensional data.
Establishes measurement tolerances using accepted industry practices and/ or review of next higher assemblies fit.
Creates, revises, and reviews designs by utilizing CAD software, defining component materials science and metrology plans, etc.)Provides documentation necessary for the process of regulatory certification (i.e.: transmittal letters, certification plans, test plans, substantiation reports, etc.)Researches and collaborates with subject matter experts to evaluate, select, and adapt procedures to solve problems like preparation and execution of design changes.
Researches and reviews various aircraft instructions or other pertinent aviation technical information for continued airworthiness (ICA) to evaluate, select, and adapt project requirements.
Supports supply chain development of manufacturing methods and processes (i.e., new vendor identification /selection, purchasing requirements and drawing interpretations).Supports quality-related questions regarding drawing interpretation, manufacturing inspection methods, and customer feedback.
Coordinates First Article and project conformity inspection activities which affects function, safety and reliability between Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, FAA, and management.
Participates in RCCA and preventive actions.
Prepares technical packages according to customer or operator requirements.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in technical discipline.3+ years experience in direct work with realization of an engineered product (i.e.: creation of drawings, participation in supplier selection, participation in quality activities in reference to conformity of product).Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention- to -detail.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously exercising high critical thinking ability.
Strong technical ability (i.e.: Technical writing, CAD programming, GD&T
ASME Y14.5
drawing methodologies).Working knowledge of quality inspection methods (automatic and manual measuring equipment).Knowledge of basic manufacturing methods (i.e.: milling, turning, grinding, brazing, etc.)Ability to understand Regulatory requirements for FAA certification (as well as other CAAs).Reverse engineering product development experience.Preferred Qualifications:
Mechanical, electrical, or system engineering experience in a similar business (i.e.: Automotive), but Aerospace is preferred.Demonstrated understanding of aircraft structural, thermal, vibrational, or electrical principles.
