Summer 2027 - Mechanical Engineering Internship Opportunity at HGA!

Locations:

Minneapolis, MN; Milwaukee, WI; and Boston, MA or Washington, DC Begin to build your future at HGA! We have an excellent opportunity for a college or graduate school student for a paid summer internship in summer of 2027. The summer internship is typically 12 weeks in length beginning on or before June 1, 2027, through mid-August (depending on your schedule). HGA is a full-service planning and design firm of over 1,000 professionals offering planning, engineering, architecture and interior design services in 12 offices. Our nationally recognized, integrated team of experts brings a highly collaborative and transparent approach that ensures the success of clients' projects. Summer internship dates: June 1, 2027 - Mid-August (With flexibility to start earlier depending on your school schedule) What you'll do: As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will: Support HVAC analysis and design for building systems.

Assist with plumbing and piping system design.

Participate in sustainable design initiatives and LEED-related activities.

Contribute to energy conservation and high-performance building projects.

Gain exposure to multidisciplinary building engineering projects. What you'll bring: Pursuing a degree in Architectural Engineering (mechanical systems emphasis preferred) or Mechanical Engineering.

Enrolled in an ABET-accredited program.

Entering junior year, senior year, or graduate school.

Able to commute to and work from the office.

GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Experience with Revit.

Familiarity with Trace 3D+ is a plus, but not required.

Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Interest in building systems, sustainability, and energy-efficient design.

Salary Information:

The pay range listed aligns to the geography of the office for which this position is posted. Actual compensation will be based upon work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Individuals in this role working more than 24 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in HGA's robust benefit programs which include an annual bonus and success sharing bonus program, 401(k) guaranteed contribution, paid parental leave, medical, dental and life insurance plans as well as PTO and short- and long-term disability programs.

Hourly Rate:

$24.00/hour - $25/hour (Mid-West) and $29/hour (Boston or Washington, DC).
