Fixed Equipment Mechanical Integrity Engineer Posted on September 2, 2026 September 2, 2026 by JMJ Phillip We are seeking a Fixed Equipment Mechanical Integrity Engineer to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of fixed assets in a chemical manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for overseeing mechanical integrity programs, improving equipment reliability, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance asset performance and operational excellence. Position Responsibilities Asset Integrity Management Manage and maintain the site's Asset Integrity Management (AIM) program for pressure vessels, piping systems, and storage tanks. Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, including API codes and corporate requirements. Maintain accurate asset documentation, inspection records, and engineering standards. Inspection & Reliability Engineering Develop and oversee inspection plans, risk-based inspection (RBI) programs, and corrosion monitoring activities. Evaluate inspection findings and recommend appropriate maintenance or repair strategies. Perform equipment criticality assessments and reliability improvement initiatives. Equipment Evaluation & Analysis Assess equipment degradation mechanisms and conduct or review Fitness-for-Service (FFS) evaluations. Lead root cause analysis (RCA) investigations to improve long-term asset reliability. Recommend corrective actions to prevent recurring equipment failures. Maintenance & Project Support Translate engineering findings into maintenance strategies, outage plans, repair scopes, and capital improvement recommendations. Support maintenance planning by prioritizing repairs based on asset risk and operational needs. Collaborate with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to improve plant reliability. Contractor & Compliance Oversight Provide technical guidance to third-party inspectors, NDE providers, and repair contractors. Review inspection reports and verify that repairs meet applicable codes and quality standards. Conduct audits to ensure compliance with mechanical integrity and safety programs. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with operations, maintenance, planning, and leadership teams to drive continuous improvement. Promote a culture of safety, reliability, and operational excellence. Support organizational initiatives focused on performance, efficiency, and asset lifecycle management. Prerequisites Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. 5-8 years of experience supporting fixed equipment, asset integrity, or reliability engineering within the chemical manufacturing industry. Strong understanding of pressure vessels, piping systems, storage tanks, and mechanical integrity programs. Experience with risk-based inspection (RBI), corrosion monitoring, equipment reliability, and root cause analysis. Knowledge of applicable industry standards, engineering documentation, and inspection practices. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills. Demonstrated commitment to safety, compliance, and ethical business practices. Certifications (Preferred, but not Required) API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspector Certification. API 570 Piping Inspector Certification. API 653 Aboveground Storage Tank Inspector Certification. Reliability or maintenance-related certifications are a plus.
