FL, 33487
At Dioxide Materials, we are strengthening global energy security and driving sustainability by transforming from a liability into a valuable commodity. We are seeking an innovative, versatile engineer to design and develop our cutting-edge electrochemical electrolysis systems. In this role, you will bridge the gap between mechanical hardware and electrical controls, taking full ownership of your assigned projects across the product lifecycle—from initial concept and physical 3D CAD layout to circuit integration, prototype assembly, and pilot-scale manufacturing scale-up.
Key Responsibilities Electrolysis System Design:
Design and lay out robust electro-mechanical assemblies, cell stacks, fluids/piping manifolds, and structural enclosures for industrial electrolyzer systems.
Electrical Systems Integration:
Integrate electrical hardware—including sensors (pressure, temperature, flow), power supplies, pumps, actuators, and control modules—into unified mechanical frameworks and automated test skids.
Prototyping & Field Testing:
Build functional prototypes and execute rigorous testing protocols to evaluate electrochemical system performance, safety, fluidics integrity, and operational reliability.
Root-Cause Troubleshooting:
Perform detailed diagnostic and root-cause analysis to isolate and resolve complex mechanical malfunctions, electrical faults, or hardware-software interfacing issues.
Technical Documentation:
Create and maintain comprehensive engineering packages, including 3D CAD models, detailed manufacturing/assembly drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), wiring schematics, and accurate bills of materials (BOMs).
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner closely with electrochemists and fabrication teams to optimize designs for manufacturability, system safety, and field serviceability.
Compliance & Safety:
Ensure all engineering designs, wiring layouts, and pressurized systems comply with relevant industry safety standards (e.g., ASME, NEC, CE) and company safety protocols.
Qualifications & Requirements Eligibility:
Must be eligible to work in the US and pass a standard background check.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related hardware discipline.
Experience:
1-3+ years of hands-on experience in electro-mechanical design, industrial product development, or automated systems integration.
Mechanical Design:
High proficiency in 3D CAD modeling software (preferably SolidWorks) and a strong grasp of structural, fluid dynamics, or thermal simulation tools.
Electrical Knowledge:
Strong foundational understanding of industrial circuit design, power distribution, wiring schematics, microcontrollers, and PLC/data acquisition interfacing.
Problem-Solving:
Sharp analytical mindset with a proven track record of troubleshooting complex, multidisciplinary hardware and fluidic systems.
Communication:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective technical collaboration in a fast-paced R D and commercialization environment. Preferred Skills Hands-on laboratory, machine shop, or field-testing experience (e.g., system wiring, soldering, plumbing/Swagelok fitting). Experience designing chemical process equipment, automated fluid handling skids, fuel cells, or electrolyzers. Familiarity with scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, LabVIEW, C/C++) for hardware testing, data analysis, and system automation. This is a fulltime position, 40 hours a week. Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm. We offer health/vacation benefits for this position. Dioxide Materials uses E-verify to check visa status.
