Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Research and Development Engineer role based in Gainesville, FL. The Research and Development Engineer will design, prototype, and optimize plasma-based sterilization technologies and related subsystems. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and executing experiments, analyzing performance data, and iterating on designs in collaboration with cross-functional teams. The role involves developing and refining test protocols, documenting results, and contributing to product development roadmaps from concept through validation. The engineer will also support troubleshooting in the lab, interface with external research partners as needed, and help ensure that new solutions meet technical, regulatory, and safety requirements. Qualifications Strong foundation in Research and Development (R D) and Research, including experimental design, data collection, and interpretation. Fluent, technical proposal and report writing Basic electrical circuitry or surface chemistry knowledge and soldering experience is a plus. Demonstrated Analytical Skills and proficiency with Testing methods, instrumentation, and validation workflows. Experience in Product Development, including requirements definition, prototyping, and iteration toward manufacturable solutions. Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering (e.g., mechanical, electrical, biomedical, chemical) or a closely related technical field. Hands-on lab experience with complex hardware systems; familiarity with plasma, vacuum, sterilization, or biotech systems is a plus. Proficiency with engineering tools such as CAD, data analysis software (e.g., MATLAB, Python, or similar), and standard lab equipment. Ability to document work clearly, prepare technical reports, and communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Comfort working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment, with a focus on safety, quality, and continuous learning.
