Principal / Sr. Mechanical Engineer

  • $184K (depending on level and experience) Annual bonus eligibility Full benefits package (health, dental, vision, retirement, PTO, holidays) Possible relocation assistance Long-term incentive eligibility for senior-level roles Role Overview This role is responsible for leading the engineering and supplier integration of aircraft crew and equipment systems across multiple aerospace programs.
You will serve as the Responsible Engineer (RE) for supplier-developed components, ensuring all designs meet strict requirements for airworthiness, performance, safety, cost, and schedule compliance . You'll act as a key technical interface between internal engineering teams and external suppliers, helping define requirements, validate designs, and ensure successful delivery of complex aircraft subsystem integrations. What You'll Do Serve as Responsible Engineer across multiple suppliers and aircraft equipment systems Define and manage system-level and component-level requirements for supplier deliverables Support or lead system architecture definition for crew/equipment installations Review and verify designs for airworthiness, safety, and compliance standards Flow down technical requirements into procurement and supplier documentation Manage technical execution with suppliers to ensure cost, schedule, and quality targets are met Participate in design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and program milestone reviews Coordinate across engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, systems, integration teams) Support issue resolution, design trade studies, and technical risk management Mentor or guide junior engineers depending on level Systems You May Work On Aircraft seating systems Crew stations and operator interfaces Electrical cabinets and avionics enclosures Equipment racks, pallets, and integrated mission systems hardware Structural and interior aircraft installations Basic Requirements Bachelor's degree (5-8 years experience) OR Master's degree (3-6+ years experience) in Engineering or related STEM field Active DoD Secret clearance (or recent investigation within 5 years) Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance and SAP access Experience working with suppliers in aerospace or defense environments Strong engineering background in system design, integration, or hardware development Preferred Experience Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering background Aircraft systems integration or interior/equipment installation experience Supplier management or technical leadership experience Familiarity with tools such as NX, Teamcenter/CPLM Experience writing/reviewing: System Requirements Documents (SRDs) Interface Control Documents (ICDs) Statements of Work (SOWs) Technical data deliverables and compliance reviews Experience working in regulated aerospace environments (airworthiness standards) Leadership experience mentoring engineers or leading technical teams Why This Role Matters You will directly influence the design and integration of mission-critical aircraft systems that must meet strict safety and performance requirements.
