Job Description

Job Overview EDF Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Analytical Engineer specialized in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to join our Propulsion Test Group. Key tasks will be to perform engineering studies, generate analysis reports, documentation, and collaborate with other engineers in designing jet and rocket engine test facilities and special test equipment. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience performing fluid and thermal analyses with a strong understanding of the underlying engineering principles and tools. Candidates must be capable of independently developing analytical approaches, constructing and validating simulation models, interpreting results, and providing sound engineering recommendations.
Job Responsibilities:
Collaborate with engineering teams in the design and development of propulsion test facilities, specialized test equipment and supporting mechanical systems. Develop and execute simulations using SolidWorks Flow Simulation and SolidWorks Simulation, including appropriate model simplification, boundary conditions, material properties, meshing and solver settings. Analyze fluid systems involving compressible and incompressible flow, pressure losses, flow distribution, thermal effects and heat transfer. Conduct mesh independence studies, sensitivity analyses, and other verification activities to establish confidence in simulation results. Identify design risks, potential failure mechanisms and opportunities to improve performance, reliability, safety and manufacturability. Support the engineering team with rapid analysis of alternative design solutions and provide technically justified recommendations for design development. Generate data sets and graphical reports for use in client presentations. Maintain organized simulation models, engineering calculations, technical documentation and CAD files using SolidWorks PDM. Independently plan and execute assigned analytical tasks while coordinating with engineering teams to meet project schedules. Must be a US citizen.
