Statesboro, GA 30458 Department Information Within this setting, the Department of Mechanical Engineering offers undergraduate courses in support of nearly 1,100 students in mechanical engineering (energy science, materials science and processing, mechatronics, design and analysis), engineering science, and graduate courses leading to an MSME or PhD. Both the curricular and the research activities of the faculty have a strong applied emphasis, bridging theory with practice, extending the learning environment beyond the classroom, and offering a student-centered environment enhanced by technology and transcultural experiences within private and public partnerships. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the mission of the department by teaching undergraduate-level lecture and laboratory courses. Job Summary Reporting to the department chair, the visiting instructor of Mechanical Engineering will teach 15 credit hours per semester which is typically equivalent to 5 courses per semester. The visiting instructor will primarily teach engineering science courses such as Computer Applications for Engineers, Engineering Graphics and Solid Modeling, Numerical Methods for Engineers, Statics, Dynamics, Machine Design, Mechanism Design/Kinematics and Energy Science. Required Qualifications Earned PhD or equivalent terminal degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (with at least 18 graduate semester hours completed in Mechanical Engineering), by August 1, 2026. Credentials to develop and teach lectures and laboratories in Mechanical Engineering at the undergraduate level, Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives. Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development. Preferred Qualifications Credentials to teach undergraduate courses such as such as but not limited to Engineering Graphics and Solid Modeling, Computer Applications for Engineers, Numerical Methods for Engineers, Statics, Dynamics, Strength of Materials, Machine Design, Mechanism Design and Energy Science. Proposed Salary Commensurate with experience.
