Mechanical Design Engineer

Services LLC 401(k) United States, Iowa, Dubuque May 29, 2026 Mechanical Design Engineer I / II 12+ month contract Dubuque, IA Overview Join a collaborative engineering team focused on the design, development, and continuous improvement of innovative consumer and commercial products. This role will contribute to ongoing product development initiatives by supporting the full product lifecycle - from concept development and prototyping through manufacturing support and product enhancements. The ideal candidate will bring strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, creativity, and a passion for developing high-quality, durable products that meet customer expectations for performance, reliability, and usability. This position works closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, quality, sourcing, and product management. Key Responsibilities Develop innovative, customer-focused mechanical design concepts and product solutions Design and develop components and assemblies using sound engineering principles and best practices Create 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation for production and manufacturing Support product development efforts across multiple material types including metals, plastics, wood, glass, composites, and other engineered materials Perform engineering analysis including FEA, tolerance analysis, and design validation activities Support prototype builds, testing, troubleshooting, and product validation efforts Participate in design reviews and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product launches Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on product quality, manufacturability, durability, and cost optimization Support engineering change processes, documentation updates, and production issue resolution Assist with compliance, testing, and certification activities as required Present technical concepts, findings, and recommendations to internal stakeholders Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline 2+ years of mechanical design engineering experience Experience with 3D CAD modeling software Experience performing finite element analysis (FEA) Understanding of dimensional tolerance analysis and GD&T principles Ability to design experiments, analyze data, and draw engineering conclusions Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and grow technically Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced engineering environment
