Job Description

Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer to support the pre-design, design, process release, and tooling development stages of new manufacturing projects. This role is responsible for developing tooling concepts, creating manufacturing processes, estimating tooling costs, and ensuring designs meet customer specifications and production requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tool and die design , specifically progressive die stamping , and experience designing tooling for high-volume metal stamping operations. Candidates without progressive die stamping experience will not be considered. Key Responsibilities Design tooling, dies, and manufacturing processes for new customer projects. Develop complete tooling concepts from blueprint review through production release. Create process plans outlining all operations required to manufacture customer parts. Determine the sequence and number of die stations required for progressive die stamping operations. Design progressive dies for cutting, piercing, punching, blanking, forming, and other metal stamping applications. Develop tooling layouts and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD. Estimate tooling costs using customer prints, labor requirements, materials, and outside vendor services. Coordinate and lead Pre-Design and Process Release meetings. Support tooling tryouts and production launches to evaluate die performance and readiness. Manage engineering changes, blueprint revisions, and tooling modifications. Reverse engineer existing tooling and create electronic drawings and documentation when required. Maintain tooling files, CNC programs, engineering records, and ERP system data. Evaluate and qualify outside vendors for tooling design and manufacturing support. Work closely with Tool & Die Makers, Manufacturing Engineers, CNC Programmers, and Production teams to ensure successful project execution. Follow all company safety policies and manufacturing procedures. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferred. Trade School Certification or minimum of 5 years of relevant tooling design experience will be considered. Progressive Die Stamping experience is
REQUIRED.
Strong understanding of metal stamping operations and tooling design. Experience designing progressive dies for high-volume manufacturing environments.
Proficiency with:
SolidWorks AutoCAD Microsoft Excel Microsoft Word Ability to read and interpret: Blueprints Engineering drawings GD&T Technical specifications Experience supporting die tryouts, troubleshooting, and process improvements. Strong project management and organizational skills. Pay:
$90,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
