You will be responsible for taking large-scale automotive components from initial concept through Ford's launch phases (GPDS) to final SOP (Start of Production). This role requires a balance of "desk-side" design review and "on-the-floor" troubleshooting to ensure all tooling meets Ford's strict quality, cycle time, and aesthetic standards. Key Responsibilities1. Design & Engineering (DFM) Lead Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews with Ford PD engineers to optimize part design for injection molding. Analyze Mold Flow reports to determine gate locations, cooling efficiency, and potential warp issues on large-surface-area parts. Tooling Procurement & Project Management Manage the full tooling lifecycle for new launches, including RFQ generation and vendor selection (Domestic and Offshore). Maintain Tooling Timelines to ensure T1, T2, and final graining dates align with Ford's vehicle build phases (VP, TT, PP). Conduct onsite tool shop progress audits to ensure builds are on track and meet steel specifications. 3. Launch & Trial Support Directly oversee tooling trials (T1 through PPAP) at both the tool shop and our production facility. Utilize Scientific Molding principles to establish robust process windows and reduce scrap. Collaborate with Quality Engineers to address dimensional issues identified in CMM reports, implementing tool steel changes where necessary. 4. Ford Compliance & Documentation Ensure all tooling documentation is ready for PPAP submission , including tool drawings, maintenance manuals, and spare parts lists. Address Ford SQE (Supplier Quality Engineering) concerns regarding "Class A" surface finishes and gap/flush requirements.
