Job Description

At JW Hicks, we are always looking for talented individuals to join our growing team in Knox, Indiana. Currently we are looking to add a dynamic Technical Area Manager . We have a passion to produce the best refractory products on the market and are seeking individuals with an entrepreneurial spirit and heart for "Doing it Right." P rimary Function(s): Responsible for ensuring all production needs are met, shop and equipment is maintained, and inventories are maintained Develop practices and procedures for optimizing production and reducing efficiency loss in specialty refractory shapes Design, procure, and supervise construction and installation of facilities, tooling, equipment and machinery
Job Responsibilities:
Develop, maintain, and direct continual improvement of operating practices and procedures in manufacturing process Develop, implement and oversee process change verifications Design, procure, install, test, commission and optimize facilities, tooling, machinery and equipment for refractory shape production Troubleshoot problems using root cause analysis procedures and implement corrective actions Maintain press-tooling inventory Produce and maintain drawings Keep abreast of new technologies and methodologies Train employees on operating procedures and process/quality control activities Minimum Requirements B. S. degree in Mechanical Engineering Ability to use CAD software 3-5 years' experience in a production environment with some project management responsibilities Familiarity with ISO standards and the ability to use statistical data to improve processes Competence in interpreting mechanical drawings Ability and willingness to learn Preferred Qualifications Experience with robotics in manufacturing Familiarity with forklift and overhead crane operations and rigging Incumbents in this position are required to demonstrate knowledge of and proficiency in job focused Safety Concepts and Procedures, Computer Use, Quality Standards, Process Operations, Technical and Maintenance Skills, and Administrative Procedures.
