(SMP) is a leading independent manufacturer and distributor of premium automotive replacement parts utilized in the maintenance, repair, and service of vehicles in the automotive aftermarket. Additionally, SMP provides customized solutions for vehicle control and thermal management products in diversified end markets represented by its Engineered Solutions segment. Globally, SMP employs over 6,000 employees across nearly 40 manufacturing, distribution, and engineering facilities and offices located in North America, Europe and Asia. SMP sells its products primarily to automotive aftermarket retailers, program distribution groups, warehouse distributors, original equipment manufacturers, and original equipment service part operations in the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, Mexico, and other Latin American countries. Mechanical Design Engineer (Product Design Group) We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer.
Successful candidate will:
Use CAD tools to simulate, test, develop and document new products for engines and vehicles in the automotive markets. Conduct, document and track design reviews. Generate project plan and document per Engineering Department procedures. Participate in and lead teams as required. Generate preliminary estimates for Capital Investment Plan. Conduct/create Stack-up Analysis, DVP&R's, DFMEA, and Cpk/Ppk/Gage R&R. Requirements/Experience Mechanical Engineering or similar Engineering degree from a four-year college or university required. 3-5 years' experience within an automotive manufacturing environment preferred. Plastics design experience preferred. Candidate should possess analytical, interpersonal and communication skills, along with strong PC skills. Must be self-motivated and able to demonstrate the ability to manage difficult situations and be able to balance team and individual responsibilities. #LI-LP1 Standard Motor Products is an equal opportunity employer.
