Job Description

Senior Equipment Design Engineer Location:
Lenexa, KS The Role We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design of custom industrial equipment. This is a strategic hire for long-term succession planning as the team prepares for future retirements. You will be responsible for the mechanical integrity of complex systems from initial calculations through shop floor assembly.
Responsibilities Mechanical Design:
High-level 3D modeling in SolidWorks, including detailed drawings and documentation.
Engineering Analysis:
Perform first-principles engineering, including load and stress analysis and mechanics of materials.
System Integration:
Design hydraulic and pneumatic systems and coordinate with electrical and software teams.
Project Ownership:
Specify materials, tolerances, and purchased components; manage full Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Shop Floor Support:
Interface with production teams during equipment assembly and debug.
Leadership:
Provide technical mentorship to the engineering team and act as a subject matter expert.
Requirements Education:
BS in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience:
5-10+ years in machine design.
Technical Skills:
Expert proficiency in SolidWorks. Strong background in dimensioning, tolerancing, and fabrication processes.
Industry Knowledge:
Experience with material handling, robotic pick-and-place, or conveyor systems. Background in web-handling or converting is a plus.
Capabilities:
Ability to lead custom, "one-off" projects and maintain strict project timelines.
Pay:
$100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
