Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Title:

Mechanical Design Engineer Job Description As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing various welding equipment, fixtures, tooling, functional quality inspection gauges, and automotive assembly equipment. You will use SolidWorks to create custom automated test and assembly machines, ranging from simple dollies to complex weld cells. The role may also involve structural design and FEA analysis, as well as modifications for retrofitting existing robot weld cells. Interaction with customers on design plans and updates will be minimal. Responsibilities Design welding equipment, fixtures, tooling, and automotive assembly equipment. Utilize SolidWorks for designing custom automated test and assembly machines. Perform structural design and FEA analysis. Modify and retrofit existing robot weld cells. Interface with customers regarding design plans and updates. Essential Skills Proficiency in SolidWorks or other 3D parametric design software. Strong mechanical aptitude. Prior experience with machine or equipment design. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Experience with robotics. Additional Skills & Qualifications Computer programming skills, particularly in writing APIs for SolidWorks. Experience with machining, fabrication, and new product development. Familiarity with AutoCAD, sheet metal, 3D modeling, engineering, and laser cutting. Work Environment The work environment is within a brand new facility, built in July 2021, featuring well-lit, clean, and climate-controlled areas. The role involves both office-based design work and hands-on tasks on the shop floor. The standard work hours are Monday through Friday, approximately from 8 AM to 5 PM, with a common 45-hour work week. Overtime may be required occasionally, but weekend work is rare. The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, including a new laser and press brake. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Georgetown, KY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
