About The Role The Mechanical Engineer is a mid-level engineering role based at the New Iberia onshore facility. The position supports Global Riser engineering, manufacturing, inspection, repair, and project execution activities through sound mechanical engineering judgement, technical design, review, and coordination. The employee will work closely with Projects, Operations, Quality, customers, suppliers, field personnel, technicians, management, and consultants. The role requires a practical, safety-focused and solutions-oriented approach, with all engineering activities performed in accordance with internal standards, contractual requirements, customer specifications, and applicable codes and standards. Key Responsibilities Including, but not limited to: Oversee assigned engineering projects and provide technical guidance to the engineering teams and other personnel as required. Mentor junior mechanical engineers and technicians. Maintain a high standard of safety, technical integrity, quality, and professional conduct in all engineering activities. Initially shadow Project & Mechanical Engineers, Field Service Technicians, and Subsea Engineers were required to gain a practical understanding of Global Riser products, processes, procedures, customer requirements, and equipment applications. Perform mechanical engineering activities as the primary function of the role, including engineering calculations, design verification, 3D CAD modelling and drawings using SolidWorks, manufacturing data pack generation, BOMs, QCPs, work instructions, manuals, technical reports, and vendor management where applicable. Participate in inspection, maintenance, repair, manufacturing, and testing activities as required to maintain a practical understanding of Global Riser equipment and workshop processes. Manage and support projects including service, repair, manufacture, design, CEM, and product-related scopes, from inception through delivery, in accordance with Company policies, procedures, and customer requirements. Activities may include customer communication, procurement, logistics, resource planning, scheduling, reporting, inspection-report review, technical dispositions, databook review, manufacturing oversight, quality control, and project closeout. Provide technical advice and engineering support to technicians, inspectors, project personnel, and operations teams. Monitor compliance (and comply) with applicable codes, standards, practices, customer requirements, Quality Management System requirements, and Global Riser procedures and specifications. Prepare and provide clear project and engineering progress updates to Management and customers as required. Review engineering deliverables and identify or initiate appropriate corrective actions, including updates to engineering procedures, work instructions, or technical documents where necessary. Ensure engineering services are delivered in accordance with agreed scope, schedule, quality requirements, and applicable standards. Comply with and enforce Safety, Health, and Environmental requirements. Experience Three (3) to six (6) years' experience in a relevant mechanical engineering, manufacturing, oil and gas, marine, or heavy industrial environment. Experience with engineering design, technical documentation, project execution, manufacturing support, inspection, and customer-facing technical activities is desirable. Skills The following are the minimum skills required to perform the function: Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams. Excellent written and verbal communication, including technical report writing and professional customer communication. Excellent command of English, both written and verbal. Sound understanding of 3D CAD packages; practical SolidWorks capability is advantageous. Sound understanding of FEA software; SolidWorks Simulation or similar software is advantageous. Sound understanding of engineering calculations software; Mathcad, MATLAB, or similar tools are advantageous. Exposure to
ASME BPVC, API
Standards, and Class Rules such as ABS and DNV relating to design, manufacture, inspection, and testing is advantageous. Sound understanding of fabrication, welding, machining, and manufacturing processes. Excellent organizational, planning, time-management, problem-solving, and technical decision-making skills. Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or an equivalent recognized engineering qualification. Additional training or demonstrated competency in mechanical design, engineering calculations, SolidWorks, FEA, manufacturing, welding, machining, or related engineering disciplines.
