Job Summary To Apply for this Job Click Here An established Machinery Manufacturing firm is looking for a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Team! The Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for the design, development, documentation, and support of custom machine systems and machine tool accessories. This role requires a skilled mechanical engineer with experience in machine design, manufacturing processes, prototype development, and cross-functional coordination. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects while collaborating effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and customers.
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain mechanical equipment layouts, assembly drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and detailed manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks. Design mechanical components, assemblies, and mechanisms for machine systems and related equipment. Create and maintain accurate engineering documentation, including construction drawings, operating manuals, and technical documentation. Generate and manage BOMs and enter component data into the company's ERP system. Source components and work directly with vendors, suppliers, and fabricators to support design and procurement activities. Coordinate purchasing, fabrication, and build activities with internal departments and external suppliers. Assemble, test, and evaluate prototypes to verify functionality, performance, and manufacturability. Troubleshoot design, assembly, and field-related issues, providing technical support as needed. Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and sales teams to ensure successful project execution. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to machine design, product performance, and manufacturing efficiency. Travel occasionally (approximately 10%) to customer sites, suppliers, or company locations as required.
Qualifications:
5-10+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering (mechanical machine design experience preferred) Demonstrated experience designing industrial machinery, machine tool accessories, automation equipment, or related mechanical systems. Strong understanding of machine design principles, mechanical components, and manufacturing processes. Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D CAD software, including assembly modeling and detailed drawing creation. Experience creating accurate and efficient manufacturing drawings for fabricated and machined components. Experience developing and managing bills of materials (BOMs). Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a cross-functional team environment. Preferred Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) Experience with machine tool accessories and equipment. Experience supporting prototype builds, machine assembly, testing, and product validation. Experience working with ERP systems in a manufacturing environment. Other Requirements Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments. Ability to occasionally lift and move components, tools, or equipment associated with prototype assembly and testing. Familiarity with Swiss-type CNC lathes Ability to travel up to 10% as required, including potential travel to Canada or Mexico. Active Driver's License and Passport (or the ability to obtain both)
Salary:
52-62/hr + Bonus Overtime Pay for over 40 hours! Apply if Interested!
