No Grade Email a Friend Save Save Apply Now Posting Description Research Engineer 1, Institute for Medical Engineering and Science , conduct experimental and technical research to advance a novel catheter-based platform that enables the on-site fabrication of personalized heart implants for device-based stroke prevention; investigate system performance and underlying mechanisms while supporting translation from preclinical development to clinical application; and collaborate closely with the Principal Investigator and an interdisciplinary team of engineers and clinicians, contributing across the full product development lifecycle—from experimental design and device prototyping to bench-top testing, characterization, and preclinical animal studies. Job Requirements
REQUIRED
: Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field, with at least two years' experience in research or corporate R expertise in 3D CAD design, rapid prototyping, bench-top simulator development, mechanical testing, sensor integration, data acquisition/analysis; and strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document technical work, present findings, and independently drive projects while coordinating key milestones.
PREFERRED
: Experience evaluating implantable medical devices, knowledge of Class III medical device regulations and technical documentation, and expertise in biomaterials, rheological characterization, and in vitro biocompatibility and hemocompatibility testing, such as cytotoxicity and coagulation readouts. 06/23/2026
