  • Full-time Mechanical Engineer II (Battery Test Systems) Who We Are Associated Environmental Systems is an innovative manufacturing company focused on advanced environmental test chambers supporting aerospace, electronics, automotive, and the rapidly expanding battery industry.
Our systems are used by industry leaders including Tesla, Rivian, Lucid, Meta, Google, and Harley-Davidson. We design and build equipment used to test lithium-ion cells and packs across coin cell, cylindrical, and pouch formats, including thermal performance, cycling, and safety/abuse conditions. The Opportunity We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to support the design and execution of battery test chamber systems. This role is ideal for an engineer with strong SolidWorks and sheet metal experience, who also understands — or wants to deepen their experience in — battery testing environments and hardware. You will work on systems supporting: Coin cell, cylindrical, and pouch cell testing Thermal cycling and environmental conditioning Battery safety and abuse testing (thermal runaway, containment, venting) This is a hands-on, execution-focused role — supporting ECOs, production, and continuous improvement, while contributing to new product development in the battery space. Primary Responsibilities Design and maintain SolidWorks models, assemblies, and fabrication drawings for battery test chambers and supporting hardware Develop sheet metal enclosures, structural frames, and test interfaces for battery testing applications Support ECO execution and design revisions tied to production, testing, and field feedback Work directly with manufacturing to resolve fit-up issues, thermal sealing challenges, and integration problems Contribute to DFMA improvements to increase repeatability and reduce build complexity Create and manage Bills of Material (BOMs) with strong attention to detail Participate in build reviews and provide hands-on floor support Assist in development of battery test fixtures, racking systems, and chamber interfaces Support integration of refrigeration, electrical, and safety systems into mechanical designs Required Skills & Experience ~5-8 years of mechanical engineering experience in a manufacturing or lab/test equipment environment Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (assemblies, drawings, BOMs) Solid experience in sheet metal design and fabrication (laser cutting, forming, welding) Experience supporting production issues, ECOs, and design revisions High attention to detail; able to produce clear, production-ready documentation Comfortable working in a hands-on, fast-paced environment Strongly Preferred (Battery Focus) Experience working with battery testing systems or labs Familiarity with lithium-ion cell formats: Coin cell Cylindrical Pouch cells
Understanding of:
