Job Summary:
The Tooling Engineer II is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of injection mold tooling, from initial quotation through design, build, validation, and launch. This role works closely with suppliers, project engineering, sales, and customers to ensure tooling meets cost, quality, and delivery expectations while complying with internal standards and customer requirements.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage the complete mold procurement process, including supplier quotation, mold design review, construction oversight, and mold debug/launch activities. Maintain and manage relationships with current tool suppliers; identify, evaluate, and develop new tooling suppliers as business needs require. Develop accurate internal tool cost estimates to support quoting, project planning, and financial alignment. Schedule, monitor, and track all tooling deliveries; provide regular mold progress updates to Project Engineers and ensure on-time delivery to support program milestones. Conduct internal mold design reviews to verify design integrity, manufacturability, and compliance with established mold building standards. Implement and coordinate tooling changes required to meet customer quality specifications, engineering changes, or production improvements. Support the sales and business development functions by participating in customer meetings, technical discussions, and product design reviews. Promote and maintain a safe working environment by strictly following all company safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor s or Master s degree in Engineering, with emphasis in Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering. Minimum of 10 years of injection molding experience, with a strong focus on mold making, mold design, and tooling procurement. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously with strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information professionally. Strong technical writing, proposal development, and presentation skills. Proven ability to exercise sound judgment and effectively analyze, evaluate, and resolve complex technical problems. Working knowledge of 3D CAD software and the ability to interpret and review detailed tool designs. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Desirable Qualifications:
SolidWorks experience preferred. Experience with lean manufacturing concepts.
